A Gainesville native, Jesse graduated with honors from the University of Florida before earning his law degree at the University of Maryland. He joined Glassman & Zissimopulos after a wide-ranging legal career in the public and private sectors.
About Jesse
Jesse Smith began his career as an Assistant State's Attorney in Gainesville, prosecuting a wide range of criminal cases. After moving into private defense, he has handled serious criminal matters including DUI, drug trafficking, sexual battery, and attempted murder in both state and federal court.
His practice reaches well beyond criminal law. Jesse has broad civil litigation experience across contracts, employment, civil rights, administrative actions, and personal injury, and he has authored and argued appeals in state and federal court. At Glassman & Zissimopulos, much of his work focuses on helping people injured in car crashes, trucking accidents, slip and fall accidents, and medical malpractice cases.
Personal Life
Jesse is married to his wife, Jan, also an attorney here in Gainesville, and together they have two young daughters, Norah and Charlotte. The family are big animal lovers, with three cats and a Russian tortoise at home.
Off the Clock
Jesse likes to stay active. He's a runner who has finished ultramarathons, and he squeezes in golf when he can. He's a devoted fan of 80s and 90s music and movies (Arnold Schwarzenegger is his favorite actor, Jurassic Park his favorite film), and, like most of the firm, a dedicated Gator sports fan.
